E-waste Facility Improvements: Security, speed and separation

Blog Post Image - StalybridgeThe Sims Recycling Solutions facility in Stalybridge, UK securely shreds and manually dismantles up to 32,000 tonnes of e-waste each year. Recent improvements however will not only increase security on-site but will also allow even more material to be processed.

Enhancements to site security include full security camera monitoring – internally and externally – as well as in restricted areas of access. These features, among others, will provide clients with additional protections from potentially severe and damaging data security threats that exist during IT disposition.

In addition to security, the refurbished shredding system has been optimized to now process up to 20 tonnes per hour. This equipment was fitted with a new magnet that removes ferrous metals before they reach the granulation and water-table process. This separates the remaining non-ferrous metals as well as cable, plastic and printed circuit boards helping Sims minimize costs and create cleaner commodity streams for our downstream vendors.

We welcome current and prospective clients to request a site visit at any time to see how your IT equipment is being managed.
